Does your manuscript need help? I’ve been working as a writer, teacher, editor, and in the publishing industry for eight years now. I am fluent in over six million forms of communication–okay, not really, but I’m pretty good with English.
I’ve previously worked answering slush and managing clients at the L. Perkins Agency, screened articles and copyedited the Journal of Educational Controversy, and done editorial work, proofing and copyediting for The Bellingham Review and Lightspeed Magazine, as well as a number of private clients. I sit on advisory boards for Cascade Writers and the Codex Writers Group and I am an Active member of Science Fiction Writers of America. My day job includes teaching composition, developmental education, and creative writing.
- Copyediting and proofreading
- APA, MLA, Chicago/Turabian manuscript formatting and proofing
- Fiction content editing–I’ll read your manuscript and give you detailed, in-depth feedback
- Writer mentoring–I’ll help you find tools and resources to improve your writing and networking
Rates negotiated based on project, depending on what kind of work I foresee. Typically I go by EFA rates, but I always do a sample 10-minute edit first, and extrapolate that into a flat fee for the project. You will, except in very strange or unusual cases, only pay for hours estimated based on the initial edit.
Do I also do book design & prep for print/online publishing? No, but my wife, a graphic designer, does. [Website currently in progress; contact me to get her rates]
